Trace Heating

Frost Protection

In either external locations or unheated areas, a Raychem frost protection circuits are to be fitted to prevent freezing of pipework services in the event of temperature levels dropping. For the control of the frost protection, we would incorporate a Raychem thermostat control unit, which will be designed and set to activate the trace heating system when the sensor under the insulation detects the ambient temperature has fallen below 5°C.

The frost protection cable will be installed throughout the entire length of the pipework run, and if maximum cable lengths are exceeded, then additional Control Units and circuits will be required, as per manufacturer’s instructions. The thermostat will also provide the means of connection of the mains power to complete the circuit, and an insulation resistance test with certificate will be provided with the finished circuit.

HWS Maintenance

For HWS maintenance, a Raychem HWAT trace heating cable will be fitted to the single line HWS pipework, and in respect of controlling the system, the trace heating cable will be connected with a Raychem Eco Box. The HWAT cable will be self-regulating and will not exceed the required maximum temperature of 55°C. As part of our system, a power junction box will be installed to complete the circuit, and an insulation resistance test with certificate will be provided with the finished circuit.

In summary there are ways of laying the circuit, along with choice of Raychem cables to apply depending on circuit length, pipe diameter, etc and also whether pasteurisation of the HWS system is required.

Please feel free to contact our Head Office on 0208 669 3029 and we would be pleased to sit down and talk through any trace heating requirements.
